of her smile her presence
turns to agony and stinging wounds

I stand in the tepid flames
where once there was a haven
I face my sweet angel
as she runs me through
every moment, every steady breath
I endure, I do not look away
I burn
Because all I know, all I learned
is that you must burn to heal
Or the fire never leaves.
I stand, I will not run
will not prolong the consequences
of falling.
And when you break my heart
I'll tell you that it's whole.
One day it will be true,
and I won't burn anymore.
